Glaziers fabricate, install and repair commercial and residential window, door and entranceway systems. They can work with construction glass installation contractors, interior design and architectural firms, and glass fabrication shops. There is always a demand for glaziers!

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret drawings & specifications.
  • Measure, cut, fit, install and/or secure glass panes, window parts & architectural metals.
  • Assemble pre-fabricated glass unit parts such as revolving doors, sky lights & curtain walls.
  • Install and maintain glass products on walls, ceilings & handrails.
  • Replace windows and glass in furniture & other products.

What You’ll Need

Entrance Requirements

Highschool or equivalent. Complete a three-to four year apprenticeship program. Once you successfully complete the required on-the-job training, technical training and exams, you are awarded a journeyperson certificate.

Apprenticeship Program: 3-4 years, includes technical training, on-the-job training and exam. Journeyperson certificate awarded after successful completion. Approval for a self paced apprenticeship program may be available.
